You can Count on God!
January 23, 2026, 11:00 AM
Greetings in Christ to you! I pray this week has gone well for you.
We've already experienced some winter weather this week. We were forced to cancel our mid-week services at FCC this past Wednesday due to the snow, ice, and cold temperatures.
The weather forecast is calling for more snow and inclement weather for the weekend.
Therefore, keep this in mind: In the event of bad weather and we are forced to cancel services, please watch for the cancellation announcements through one or all of the following methods: 1) The local network television stations, 2) The Email Blast, and 3) the Prayer Chain.

People can become so self-reliant that they come to feel as if they have no need for God in their lives.
At that point, it's easy to become arrogant and boastful.
Listen to how this person is described in Psalm 10:3-4 (NASB): "For the wicked boasts of his soul’s desire, And the greedy person curses and shows disrespect to the Lord. The wicked, in his haughtiness, does not seek Him. There is no God in all his schemes."
In contrast, listen to the wise words given in Psalm 143:8 (NASB): "Let me hear Your faithfulness in the morning, For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul."
I love that the Psalmist says, "Let me hear of your faithfulness in the morning." You may not be a "morning person," but we must remind ourselves of the TRUTH to START the day off. As the day moves forward, we'll get hit with lots of lies and false information.
I pray we are all keeping a devotion/Bible reading/quiet time during the day. It really is a MUST in the crazy world we are living in. It gives us proper DIRECTION. Psalm 119:105 (NASB) says it wonderfully: "Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path."

Lord, keep us all from pride, arrogance, and self-importance. May we seek you with all our hearts, remembering that we need you every hour, every day! Faithfulness is a vanishing virtue today! Thankfully, though, God is ALWAYS faithful, and we can always count on Him!
And in Jesus, God's only Son, we have no greater example of faithfulness to the Heavenly Father. Let us all learn from the Master Himself!
Speaking of which, Lord willing, I'm going to be continuing our sermon series, "Be Like Jesus," and talking about being "FAITHFUL like Jesus" this coming Sunday, January 25th.
Have a great weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing you at FCC again soon -- maybe this Sunday!

God Bless,
Greg Herriford
