New Year's Resolutions
January 9, 2026, 11:00 AM
Greetings in Christ and Happy Friday to you! We've almost made it through the first full week of 2026!

Do you make any New Year's resolutions? I make a few.
Research shows that by the middle of January, many folks have already broken or given up completely on their New Year's resolutions!
Nicky Gumbel, a pastor who writes my morning devotions for this year, said this about the gym he belongs to in England, "Each year on January 1st, they would bring in extra gym equipment. The place was packed! By about the 7th of January, they had moved out all the extra equipment, as most people had given up their New Year’s resolutions, and the club returned to normal!"

Here's one goal I hope we all KEEP this year: To be more like Jesus in 2026!
In fact, I've just begun a new sermon series to start 2026. In these messages, we'll be looking at how we can "BE LIKE JESUS."
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday (01.11.26). We'll be talking about "PRAYING like Jesus."
In addition, our Wednesday night gathering will resume this coming Wednesday, January 14th. During the Bible study time, I'll be teaching from the Gospel of Mark and examining more closely how our Lord and Savior lived while on earth in human form.
There are plenty of wonderful opportunities in 2026 for all of us to grow in Christ! I hope and pray you will be part of it!

The first question asked in the Psalms is this: found in Psalms 2:1 (NASB): "Why are the nations restless And the peoples plotting in vain?"
We see a lot of turmoil all around the globe today. Here's the bottom line, though: Jesus is still on the throne and in control of the affairs of this world. No matter how crazy things appear to be!
Listen to how the 2nd Psalm ends...Psalms 2:11-12 (NASB): "Serve the Lord with reverence, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way, for His wrath may be kindled quickly. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!"

With all the storms of life swirling, the only safe place to be is "in Him." Lord, thank you that as we look to the year ahead and all the potential challenges, opportunities, and possibilities, the safest place for us to be is in YOU!
I pray that folks will find what they are searching for this year by making Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior!
Lord, let the light of your face shine on us in 2026 and fill our hearts with the joy of your presence, and grant us the contentment that's only found in YOU!  I pray you have a good remainder of the week, and I look forward to seeing you again soon!

God Bless,
Greg Herriford
