Look UP, Speak OUT, and Let Him IN!

Hello again!
I hope you had a good week and enjoy a great weekend!

Autumn is probably my favorite season. After all, I did name my first child after the season!
I enjoy the cooler temps and the beautiful colors of the changing leaves on the trees!
We all could, and should, pause, look around, and take some time to enjoy the creation.
Some people, I suppose, look and pay no mind to the one who created it all.
To me, that's nonsense.
The Old Testament prophet Isaiah reminds us to remember and honor the Creator in Isaiah 40:25b-26, 28: "Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom."
And we serve a God who is not only mighty and all-powerful, but one who loves us and cares for each of us personally. Listen to Isaiah 40:29-31: "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
I pray that the Lord would restore and empower each of us today so we may face our challenges and do everything we need to do!

Yesterday (Thursday, October 8th), I had the privilege of baptizing a couple of people at First Christian Church. Mike Clay and Ashlei Clines live just down the street from the church building and have been attending our Wednesday night Bible Study over the past few weeks.
They are both working weekends at Keeneland. Therefore, after talking about it some and meeting to discuss it, we decided to go ahead with the baptisms! I thank God for these two souls that have now entered into the Kingdom of God! They both now have the Holy Spirit living INSIDE them. That makes ALL the difference!
I love what it says in Romans 8:11: "And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you." WOW, now that is an incredible POWER!
This coming Sunday (10.11.26) at FCC, we will talk about this subject as we continue our sermon series looking at the New Testament book of Colossians. The message, "Christ is Living Inside Us," will come from Colossians 1:24-29. Christianity isn't merely knowing about Christ; it is all about Christ living in us!
I pray you have a great weekend and that we may see you at FCC this coming Sunday. If not, then, Lord willing, we'll see you again soon. Until then, may God bless!

Your friend,
Greg Herriford
